day one: it's been a long day.
i've decided to give the whole project 365 thing another shot. i've attempted to do it in the past but due to a combination of my forgetfulness, laziness and obsessiong with starting on the first day of a month, it never really worked out. but i'm gonna give it another go, now that i've chilled out a little and now that i'm pressing that shutter button more than ever! i've decided to start using the description of each days photo as a blog too, since i haven't been blogging for too long now and i miss it.
so, today my mum and i drove to auckland and back to go see the kiwi's take on the world exhibition at the auckland art gallery that three of my photos were in. we drove tauranga to auckland, auckland to tauranga. that's a six hour car trip all up. thank god for ipods and audiobooks! the exhibition was really different from what i was expecting, but i loved it nevertheless. i guess i just had this idea in my head that art exhibitions are always how they are shown on television - artworks mounted on white walls, in an unfurnished and silent room.
while we were in the exhibition, i looked out the door onto lorne street and standing there on the other side of the doorway were about twelve of my friends from home! i had no idea that they were even in auckland, let alone that they were in the central city, and it's just such a coincidence that they happened to be on the same street as me at the same time! they came in to see the exhibition once i told them what it was, and they loved it.
after we were done at the exhibition, i dragged my mum down to queen street to hit a few of my favorite stores, $3 japan and a little arcade full of the most adorable asian clothing and accessory stores. i ended up buying a few cute things here and there for swaps, and the cutest little plushie cellphone charm, all of which i'll post pictures of soon!
tomorrow i start my new job at farmers department store and to tell the truth i'm really nervous! tomorrow's just a sort of orientation day, showing me where everything is and how everything works, but i'm still nervous. i'm excited though, and it's going to be great to finally be working again after having finished up at my previous job over a month ago! once i get used to having to get up in the mornings, that is...
Help!
So I recently bought a Canon EOS 1000FN and today I got my testroll back from the lab. Here's the weird thing: on a roll of 24 exposures, the first 19 frames came out properly exposed (well, except for the one where I accidentally under- instead of overexposed), while the last frames came out like you can see on this here scan.
As you can see in the first image, which is the first one of the entire roll shot upright (vertically), it's like the shutter got stuck, and stayed stuck in the next frame. Third frame was upright, pretty much the same picture as 4, but I saw the reflector we used in the sunglasses. I don't remember (unfortunately! should've taken note...) what settings I was using but 3 and 4 were the same exposure. 5 was regular landscape again, but went blank except for the tiniest strip of exposure at the bottom. 6 (also last shot of the roll) is back to normal (with me forgetting to add a stop because the sun worked as a backlight).
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
